The Garrett Family Foundation (GFF) is deeply dedicated to championing causes that resonate with our core values and mission. Our foundation operates with the overarching goal of extending support to charitable organizations that hold 501(c)(3) status under the Internal Revenue Code. Through our philanthropic endeavors, we strive to provide invaluable financial assistance to programs addressing critical areas such as:

Medical Initiatives
Mental Health Support
Disabilities Advocacy
Addiction Recovery Efforts
Aid for Victims of Abuse or Acts of Violence
Assistance for Veterans

By focusing on these vital areas, we aim to foster positive change and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need within our communities and beyond.

Funding Eligibility and Overhead Policy:
As part of our commitment to maximizing the impact of our charitable giving, The Garrett Family Foundation has implemented a policy regarding overhead costs for funded organizations. This policy is designed to ensure that the majority of our donations directly support the programs and services that align with our mission.

Overhead Cost Limit:
The Garrett Family Foundation requires that at least 80% of every dollar donated must go directly to the cause itself, rather than to overhead expenses. Overhead costs include administrative expenses, fundraising expenses, and any other costs that are not directly related to program services.

Evaluation Process:
All applications will be reviewed to ensure compliance with this policy. We utilize a variety of tools and resources to evaluate overhead costs, including detailed reviews of non-profit tax records and financial statements.

Application Requirements:

  • Applicants may be required to provide detailed financial information, including the most recent financial statements and tax filings (e.g., IRS Form 990 for U.S. non-profits).

  • A clear breakdown of expenses, demonstrating that at least 80% of the requested funds will be allocated directly to program services, may be required.

Non-Compliance:

Applications that do not meet this overhead requirement will not be considered for funding. Organizations are encouraged to review their financial practices and resubmit an application if they can meet this criterion in the future.

Why This Policy Matters:

We believe that by ensuring a larger portion of our donations are directed towards program services, we can better support the impactful work of our partner organizations and maximize the positive outcomes of our charitable contributions.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • All donation and sponsorship requests must be submitted through our online application form found below. Requests received through U.S. mail, fax, or email will not be considered.

  • Once your application has been submitted, you will receive an email acknowledgment to let you know that it has been received.

  • The organization must have tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and be in good standing. The Garrett Family Foundation Board may approve other philanthropic organizations.

  • The organization’s purpose must coincide with The Garrett Family Foundation’s mission.

  • Organizations are limited to one (1) sponsorship or donation request per employee per calendar year.

  • Unfortunately, we cannot support all requests. Please read the "Requests We Generally Do Not Fund" section below and review the information carefully before submitting an application.

Requests We Generally Do Not Fund:

  • Fundraisers benefiting specific individuals or families. We dedicate charitable funds to nonprofit agency programs that provide direct assistance to people in need. Please see our Immediate Impact page for these requests.

  • Requests from faith-based agencies for religious purposes. However, we will consider funding programs offered by faith-based organizations that support all members of the community.

  • Educational scholarships for individuals.

  • Foundations and other organizations that collect donations to distribute. We prefer to make our donations directly to local nonprofits.

  • Professional development seminars and conferences.

  • Lobbying, political activities, or fulfilling pledges of others.

  • Travel expenses.

  • Youth or adult sports teams, dance, cheer, performing art clubs, pageants, private clubs, etc.

  • Animal-related causes.

Select non-profit category. Garrett Family Foundation will only consider supporting organizations that fit within one of the following categories.

Please provide the IRS number assigned to the Nonprofit verifying its 501(c)(3) status. It is often referred to as an EIN and is a 9-digit number displayed in the following format: xx-xxxxxxx. When typing, please include the dash. It is usually found on the receipt you receive from the charity.
